BELIEFS

What We Believe

What We Believe

Grace Chapel is part of the Foursquare family of churches. The name Foursquare reflects the unchanging ministry of Jesus Christ and our mission to declare it worldwide. The four squares of our logo represent the four scriptural roles of Jesus as Savior, Baptizer with the Holy Spirit, Healer, and Soon-Coming King.

A summary of our beliefs is listed below. You can download the complete Declaration of Faith of the Foursquare Church here.

THE HOLY SCRIPTURES

We believe the Bible is the Word of the living God and that it is as true, trustworthy, powerful, and unchangeable as its author (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

THE ETERNAL GODHEAD

We believe God is triune: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 13:14).

THE FALL OF MAN

We believe that man was created in the image of God, but that by voluntary disobedience he fell from perfection (Romans 5:12).

THE PLAN OF SALVATION

We believe that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us, saving those who believe on Him from condemnation (John 3:16Romans 5:8).

SALVATION THROUGH GRACE

We believe that salvation of sinners is wholly through grace, that we have no righteousness of our own and must come to God pleading the righteousness of Christ (Ephesians 2:8).

REPENTANCE AND ACCEPTANCE

We believe that upon sincere repentance and a wholehearted acceptance of Christ, we are justified before God (1 John 1:9).

DAILY CHRISTIAN LIVING

We believe that it is the will of God that we be sanctified daily, growing constantly stronger in the faith (Hebrews 6:1).

BAPTISM AND THE LORD’S SUPPER

We believe that baptism by immersion into water is an outward sign of an inward work (Matthew 28:19). We believe in the commemoration of the Lord’s Supper by the use of the bread and juice of the vine – which remind us of Christ’s body that was broken for us and blood that shed for us (I Corinthians 11:23-26).

BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the baptism with the Holy Spirit is to endue the believer with power; and that His incoming now is the same as in Bible days (Acts 2:4).

THE GIFTS AND FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit has gifts to bestow upon the Christian and that we should show spiritual fruit as evidence of a Spirit-filled life (1 Corinthians 12:1-11Galatians 5:22-23).

CHURCH RELATIONSHIP

We believe that having been born into the family of God and joined to His body it is the duty of the believer, whenever this lies within his power, to identify himself with the visible church of Christ upon the earth and that such visible church is a congregation of fellow believers (Acts 16:5Hebrews 10:24-25).

THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

We believe that the second coming of Christ is personal and imminent (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

THE FINAL JUDGMENT

We believe that all shall be judged one day by God and receive either eternal life or death (2 Corinthians 5:10).
